Central to the system is the Salamander controller which is directly connected to the fire alarm panel, providing the highest levels of reliability and compliance. Able to operate and manage up to 99 holders and/or closers, the central controller signal can be extended using boosters to enable large campus-wide installations.
Subject to an initial wireless site survey, the Salamander System also requires professional installation and commissioning by an experienced engineer. Fire Door Controls is an approved installer for Salamander products and able to provide these services in full.
Salamander Door Closer – An overhead door closer which offers both hold-open and free-swing functionality, closing doors in the event of the fire alarm activating. Operated by 2 x standard C cell batteries, it is suitable for door sizes up to EN3 (<60kg/<950mm) and comes with a comprehensive 12 month warranty.
Salamander Door Holder – Usually fitted on the wall behind the top of door these devices, but can also be floor or ceiling mounted using a range of available brackets and accessories. Operated by 2 x standard C cell batteries, the Salamander Holder will reliably hold the door open in a fixed position and release in the event of the fire alarm activating. Includes comprehensive 12 month warranty. Suitable for all door sizes up to EN5 (<100kg/<1250mm).

Fire Door Controls offers annual inspection and ad-hoc maintenance on all makes and models of hard-wired and wire-free door closers and holders.
As with all other fire safety equipment and procedures, regular inspection and service where necessary is recommended annually. This not only ensures compliance with relevant standards but also certifies everything operates correctly in the event of an actual fire incident.
