The Exidor 9870 Electro-Magnetic door closer is ideal where low opening forces are required, such as care homes, hospices and hospitals. This door closer offers a hold open fixed power EN 4 which, when fitted in swing free mode, allows the door to be opened with no resistance. The door closer is wired into the buildings fire alarm system, when an alarm is activated power is cut to the unit and the closer then shuts the door.
Features:
Swing Free Mode
The Swing Free Electromagnetic Closer allows the door to operate as if no closer was fitted by providing virtually no opening resistance. Linked to the building’s Fire Detection system, the closer can be held open at any angle specified by the user but shuts automatically upon first detection of a fire – preventing the spread of flame and smoke.
Hold Open Mode
Linked to the buildings Fire Detection system, Hold Open Mode can be used to safely and legally hold open doors throughout a building to aid flow of traffic and provide barrier free access, but upon detection of a fire, releases the door automatically allowing it to close and prevent the spread of flame and smoke.

Fire Door Controls offers annual inspection and ad-hoc maintenance on all makes and models of hard-wired and wire-free door closers and holders.
As with all other fire safety equipment and procedures, regular inspection and service where necessary is recommended annually. This not only ensures compliance with relevant standards but also certifies everything operates correctly in the event of an actual fire incident.
